Qigong is a method and holistic system of self-diagnosis and healing meditation and exercise. Qigong is an ancient, yet constantly evolving practice which includes breath work and breathing techniques, meditation, movement, self-massage and exploring various postures.
No matter which aspects are focused on, the primary goal of qigong is the accumulation and channeling of qi. Qi is the lifeforce or energy that permeates the body. Qi is naturally stored in certain areas of the body. These can be thought of as qi batteries or reservoirs. When qi is stimulated in these storage areas it can then be moved throughout the body to effect cleansing and rejuvenation.
Just as there is healthy qi, areas of imbalance or disease are typically thought to have bad qi which should be removed in order to restore balance and optimal health. Sometimes the goal of qigong practice is specifically to discharge this negative energy so that healthy qi can regain primary presence in these areas.
Qigong is a unique form of therapy in that it is not prescribed for a limited amount of time, but is encouraged to be practiced for a period of time every day or on as regular a basis possible. Qigong can be as simple as focusing on breathing deeply and becoming aware of one’s body. Anyone can practice qigong, regardless of age or skill level; knowledge or state of health.
Qigong includes many sitting, standing and lying down exercises, so that qigong can be practiced anywhere at any time of the day or night. This makes qigong a suitable form of exercise and therapy for anyone, including those that are disabled with short- or long term illness.

I fancy myself a student of the mystical schools. As such, nothing is off-limits as far as self- and multiverse- exploration goes. I prefer to use the term 'yoga' to mean the development of self, and not as one particular discipline. I seek viable, proactive information on subjects ranging from meta physics and philosophy, social evolution and ethics, to sustainable living practices and natural health solutions as alternatives to mainstream medicine, and in daily life. I share the ponderings and info you find here, as well as pass along articles by others whose interests fit into the topics on this site...so be sure to check out the links to other authors' sites in the bio section at the end of each article... and enjoy!
