It only takes a few minutes to reap the benefits of a good stretch. Stretching not only stimulates circulation, but gets us motivated in mental ways as well.
By stretching and moving we help the body to collect and release the various waste materials that are produced. The lymphatic system is encouraged to circulate, which also plays an important role in maintaining overal physical health.
5 Minute Stress Relief:
- Sit up tall in your chair, holding your rib cage high so that your diaphragm has plenty of room to work with.
- Stretch your arms overhead and weave your fingers together and turn your palms toward the ceiling.
- Take a deep breath. Starting with the lower stomach muscles begin to take in air, filling your chest from the bottom up. Continue this relaxed breathing.
- When you feel ready, extend your arms and side torso t othe left while pulling the tips of your shoulder blades into the body.
- Inhale while stretching up and returning to the otiginal position.
- Repeat stretching motion to the right side of your body on the next exhale. And so on.
Even if you’ve only got 5 minutes to spare, giving your body a hand by turning up the heat removes the build up of repetative motion stress and tension in the muscles, which in turn clears the way for better cirulation of blood and qi.
Stress Reduction Tip:
Make a habit. Every day at the same time go through these steps. Perhaps every day just before you have lunch. Start with 5 minutes or more. You may find that overall energy levels stay higher longer when you do this sort of rejuvenating exercise one or twice a day.

I fancy myself a student of the mystical schools. As such, nothing is off-limits as far as self- and multiverse- exploration goes. I prefer to use the term 'yoga' to mean the development of self, and not as one particular discipline. I seek viable, proactive information on subjects ranging from meta physics and philosophy, social evolution and ethics, to sustainable living practices and natural health solutions as alternatives to mainstream medicine, and in daily life. I share the ponderings and info you find here, as well as pass along articles by others whose interests fit into the topics on this site...so be sure to check out the links to other authors' sites in the bio section at the end of each article... and enjoy!
