One of the most refreshing perspectives qigong has to offer with regard to emotional healing is that past damage effects tomorrow’s emotional health much less than present actions, attitudes and choices.
Qigong is a useful way to become aware of the physical and emotional effects that our thoughts on our wellbeing. Though past events involving emotional trauma or discomfort can be deep and take time to heal, we can take a positive action by choosing the more positive stance in a given situation.
Emotions tend to be addictive. Deeply woven emotions surrounding deeply meaningful events seem to have a way with recreating the conditions toward the build-up and release of those same emotion chemicals within the body.
This sort of emotional inertia can be just as easily broken, so long as the association is allowed to weaken and is not encouraged when it does happen. The distraction technique for redirecting our emotional experience is an effective way of making new connections within our mind and emotional experience of life.
Qigong is a powerfully simple distraction tool that also has its own beneficial results. Whether you ‘believe’ in the mind-body powers of directing qi using qigong techniques or not, there is wide spread evidence that qigong is supremely effective as biofeedback therapy.
Using qigong to aid emotional healing has the synergistic effect of strengthening belief in our ability to make positive and effective actions that better our lives. Rather than analyze the psychological components or past events that contribute to emotional pain or imbalance, emotional focused qigong lets us take control of the present and decide how we’d like to feel for this moment.

I fancy myself a student of the mystical schools. As such, nothing is off-limits as far as self- and multiverse- exploration goes. I prefer to use the term 'yoga' to mean the development of self, and not as one particular discipline. I seek viable, proactive information on subjects ranging from meta physics and philosophy, social evolution and ethics, to sustainable living practices and natural health solutions as alternatives to mainstream medicine, and in daily life. I share the ponderings and info you find here, as well as pass along articles by others whose interests fit into the topics on this site...so be sure to check out the links to other authors' sites in the bio section at the end of each article... and enjoy!
